The Research Centre in the Museum’s elongated south wing is dedicated to the study of the Eleutherna excavations, Crete, and Mediterranean history and archaeology by a wide range of specialists (archaeologists, anthropologists, architects, historians, paleobotanists, etc.) from around the world.
The Study Centre operates and implements scientific and educational programs under the auspices of the University of Crete.
Its offices are equipped with libraries, computers, photocopiers, scanners, printers, and archival space.
The Research Centre’s library features books on Eleutherna, Crete, the Aegean, and the Mediterranean. The library’s first books were donated by the President and members of the Mediterranean Archaeological Society. Continuously being enriched with books, the library is also equipped with reading tables with all the necessary electronic equipment.
